Hand wash caps in cool water and let them air dry on something that holds their shape. A washing machine and a dryer will flatten a structured crown and warp a brim, usually permanently.
Structured caps hold their shape off the head; unstructured ones fold flat and pack easily. If it is going in a bag, unstructured is the more practical choice.
