Test any cleaner or protector on a small hidden area first, particularly on suede, nubuck and pale leather, where a product can darken a material permanently.
Let shoes dry fully at room temperature between wears and between cleaning steps. Applying a product to a damp shoe traps moisture underneath it, and trapped moisture is what causes odour and breaks down linings.
