Running shoes work for treadmill sessions and general cardio, but a soft, tall midsole is an unstable base for lifting, because the foam compresses unevenly under load. If most of a session involves weights, a flatter training shoe is the safer platform.
Air-dry running shoes away from direct heat. Radiators, car heaters and direct sun stiffen adhesives and distort foam, which shortens the life of a shoe faster than the running does. Removing the insoles helps them dry through properly after a wet run.
