The Jordan 8 Retro sits in our men's basketball shoes range and comes in US 7 to 14.
Cut height is about feel rather than protection. A high top wraps above the ankle and feels locked in, adding some weight and restricting a little movement. A low top is lighter and freer. Research has not settled whether high tops prevent ankle injuries, and we will not claim they do: choose the cut that feels secure and lets you move the way you play.
Basketball involves hard lateral movement, so the fit that matters is sideways. Your foot should not slide inside the shoe when you cut. The heel needs to stay locked and the forefoot held without pinching, with roughly a thumb's width at the toe. A shoe that feels fine walking can still let the foot shift when you change direction at speed.
